Carnival shake-up

The Neshoba County Democrat reports some changes for the Fair's carnival. The Carnival is a rite of Fair courtship, a place to win an animal, and a source of entertainment for the young folks.

A Ferris wheel will a part of the Neshoba County Fair again as a new carnival comes to town for the first time in decades. No worries, Fair officials say, the pick-up-ducks are coming, too.

Mitchell Brothers and Sons Amusements of Louisiana will bring about 40 portable attractions to the Fair that scale from kiddie rides for young children, to major family rides for the intermediate adventurer to the more spectacular rides for the daring.

The company replaces Rebel Amusements that has been a part of the Fair for 20 years.

Mitchell Brothers game concessions are geared toward young children and families while the food concessions offer all the classical carnival foods, ranging from cotton candy to corn dogs to funnel cakes, said owner Gus Mitchell.
