118th Neshoba County Fair Begins Friday

WTOK - Political Talk

WTOK gets the political talk started, "Early morning on the Tuesday of the Fair, Wesley Ward, a candidate for Neshoba County Constable will step behind the podium and will begin three days of politics. For years, politicians campaigning for tax assessor to governor and everything in between have used this platform to reach potential voters. Some national candidates, including Ronald Reagan, have also visited the fair to stump for votes. During off years, the politicians use the opportunity to just visit with fairgoers and talk about some of their successes....With more than 75 [political] speakers at this year's fair, there should be plenty to discuss." Meridian Star promises full coverage

The Meridian Star kicks off its coverage of the 2007 Neshoba County Fair and promises Daily Blog Reports, Daily Photo Gallery, Daily Videos, and Live Updates.

“It’s always either dusty and hot or rainy and hot,” said Fair Board Member, Laura Thrash. “We can weather just about anything. This is a magical time,” said Thrash. “It is the last big party of the summer before a lot of people have to start heading back to school. You see people here that you don’t ever see around here, and I have so many wonderful memories from the years of coming. Politicians also have learned that if you want to get involved in Mississippi politics, you have to come through Neshoba."
